We often make mistakes when paying bills, such as setting a bill to the side for a moment and then forgetting to pay it. But mistakes like that can cost us on our credit scores.
Credit.com has an article 7 Mistakes That Can Demolish Your Credit Score. The seven they list are:
- You forget to make a payment
- A medical bill slips through the cracks
- You refuse to pay a bill “on principle” (but they spelled it “principal”, which is the wrong word and I just couldn’t bring myself to do that)
- You get talked into co-signing
- You max out a credit card
- You close out all your old accounts
- You assume everything’s fine
